Skai Jackson was born in New York City.^[3] She began her career as a child model appearing in numerous national commercials, including for Band-Aidbandages.^[3]

Her first major acting role was in the independent film Liberty Kid (2007). Followed by other films such as Rescue Me (2008) and The Rebound (2009). In 2009, she was cast member of the Nickelodeon pre-school animated seriesBubble Guppies playing role of Little Fish. From 2010 to 2011 she guest starred in the television series Team Umizoomi, Royal Pains and Boardwalk Empire. She also had small roles in the 2011 films Arthur and The Smurfs.^[4]

In 2011, she was cast as Zuri Ross in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie starring Debby Ryan.^[3][5] In 2014, she was also cast in the Disney Channel's animated series Ultimate Spider-Man.^[6]

(Next Big Thing) following performances by the the first runner up, Zack Montana and winner, Shealeigh. Following the winner announcement, Atlantic Records recording artist Cody Simpson took the stage singing his hit songs including "Not Just You" and "On My Mind." Radio Disney's on-air personality Jake Whetter hosted the concert featuring special appearances by stars of the hit Disney Channel series "Shake It Up" Bella Thorne and Zendaya. Additional appearances included model and up-and-coming actress Alli Simpson, and pop singer Pia Mia.
