Chloe Bennet (汪可盈 in traditional Chinese characters; born Chloe Wang on April 18, 1992)[1] is an American actress and singer. She is currently starring as Skye in the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
Early life
Chloe Bennet was born on April 18, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. She is the daughter of Stephanie and Bennet Wang.[4] Her father is Chinese American and her mother is European American. She has six brothers: three biological brothers, two African American foster brothers and one Mexican-Filipino foster brother. She attended St. Ignatius College Prep.[4] At 15, she moved to China to pursue a singing career.[5]
Career
While in China, Bennet studied Mandarin in Shanghai[5] and Beijing.[6] She released her debut single "Uh Oh" in both English and Mandarin, followed by "Every Day In Between" solely in English. She then moved to Los Angeles, California.[5] Her first on-screen appearance was as a host for the short-lived TeenNick summer dance series The Nightlife. She appeared in the 2011 music video for South Korean band BIGBANG's extended play musical recording Tonight.
While pursuing an acting career in Hollywood, she changed her name to "Chloe Bennet", after having trouble booking gigs with her last name.[7]
From 2012 to 2013 Bennet played a recurring supporting role in the ABC drama series Nashville as Hailey.[8]
In December 2012, Bennet was cast as a series regular on the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[8][9][10] which premiered on September 24, 2013, in which she portrays the character Skye.
Personal Life
Bennet briefly dated Nashville co-star Sam Palladio in early 2013.[11] She has been in a relationship with actorAustin Nichols since late 2013, the two having met when Nichols was cast as her love interest in an episode ofAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[12]
